Virginie Brouard, owner of La P’tite Folie and Le Di-Vin has booked her next trip to Ethiopia for the end February. For the last five years Virginie has been fundraising for the Daughters of Charity, a mission of 60 nuns who run orphanages in the Tigray region, as well as for The Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. Sadly Ethiopia is suffering its worst drought in over 30 years. A lack of rain has meant that crop yields in the worst-affected areas are down by 90% this year. The famine caused by the drought 30 years ago sparked Bob Geldof’s Live Aid campaign and the United Nations estimate that there are currently 10 million people in urgent need for food.
On this visit Virginie will continue to spend time with the nuns at the Daughters of Charity as well as visiting the orphanage and the refugee camp she was introduced to on her last trip.
If you would like to make a donation to the charity then Virginie would be delighted to take this with her at the end of February. Please find Virginie at La P’tite Folie or Le Di-Vin or ask a member of staff.
