The manner in which severance pay is paid is done with the consent of the member and the board of directors, subject to applicable laws or regulations. 14.21 – Non-professional librarian members referred to in paragraph 11.16 may not be transferred to other departments or units of Dalhousie University or transferred to functions without the consent of the members concerned. Applications for transfer or reassignment to available agencies are not disproportionately rejected. 21.05 – The contracting parties recognize that the university may enter into agreements with other institutions that provide for the sharing of facilities, programs or students, including the admission of students from other institutions to a teaching project within Dalhousie University and the task of members delivering courses within campus or institutions of another institution. Members may be assigned teaching duties at another institution, in accordance with existing rules within departments or other teaching units that were completed prior to the signing of this collective agreement. All provisions relating to the allocation of teaching functions in another institution to members after the signing of the collective agreement are made in departments or other teaching units and contain provisions concerning the agreement of the member or members concerned. 25.03 – If a Senate decision calls for a program to be reduced or eliminated, members working in the program will not be replaced when they leave Dalhousie University. In other circumstances, a division or other unit of this type that does not agree with a non-replacement decision will have the opportunity to submit its case to the Faculty`s Academic Planning Committee, unless the provisions of section 26 or section 27 apply; If an agreement is not reached as a result of the review by the Faculty`s Academic Planning Committee, a department or other department may refer the matter to the Senate Academic Committee for Priorities and Budgets to decide definitively whether a replacement order is necessary to preserve the integrity of the program in question. 30.14 – With the agreement of the Department or other similar units involved and the Board of Directors, a member may perform retraining courses for new tasks. If such a conversion involves leave, the member`s salary and benefits remain in place and the cost of retraining is not the member`s responsibility. The member assumes his rank, his term status and his years of service during and after the conversion to sabbatical or special leave. 21.02 – Off-campus education may be allocated in accordance with existing rules within departments or other teaching units that were provided prior to the signing of the collective agreement.
All provisions relating to the allocation of teaching tasks outside the campus, taken after the signing of this collective agreement, are made in departments or other teaching units and contain provisions for the agreement of the member or members concerned. Members whose employment is responsible for regular or ongoing teaching outside the campus have defined these tasks in their individual appointment letters. David Westwood, president of the Dalhousie Faculty Association, says they have just begun collective bargaining for next year, and one of the proposals submitted to the association was a five per cent pay cut.
